A Social Media & Press Office Coordinator is required within the Communications & Engagement team to lead the institution’s social media activity to enhance our profile and protect our reputation. The role works closely with the Media Manager and Press Officer to assist in running LSHTM’s busy and dynamic press office. Applicants must have experience of working in a press, marketing or communications role, ideally within a higher education, health or science environment. Applicants must also have higher education to degree level in a relevant subject, or equivalent, or relevant experience.

The post holder will be responsible for managing content on LSHTM’s main social media platforms: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn, and producing creative digital content (including infographics, photos, videos and memes) to engage effectively with our high-profile communities and promote our leading expertise and activity. Working on topics as diverse as monkeypox, sugar tax, sexual health and climate change, the candidate will have a passion for social media, show an understanding of ‘news sense’, excellent communication skills and a methodical, and thorough approach.

The role monitors and evaluates social and traditional media, alerting colleagues to reputational issues, advising staff on social media tactics and tools, and producing engaging analytics reports.

The post holder will respond to requests for information or interviews from media, support staff in their interactions with journalists and coordinate and supervise TV filming on LSHTM premises. 

The post is full-time, 35 hours per week, 1.0FTE and permanent.

The salary will be on the Professional Services scale Grade 4 in the range £31,211-£35,502 per annum (inclusive of London Weighting). The post will be subject to the LSHTM terms and conditions of service.  Annual leave entitlement is 30 working days per year, pro rata for part time staff. In addition to this there are discretionary “Wellbeing Days”. Membership of the Pension Scheme is available. The post is based in London.
