Job Summary This position is responsible for working independently or as a team member. Responsible for the de-icing and clearing of snow from walkways, thresholds, and other areas as needed on the Bowdoin College campus. We are looking for someone who is able to work as efficiently as possible, promote job worksite safety, provide excellent customer service, and exhibits pride and quality workmanship. Must be able to work on-call, as needed, during storms. This is a great crew and team to work with—come and join us for the winter!

  • This is part-time, non benefits eligible position
  • Hourly rate for this position is $20.00/ per hour
  • This position is eligible for emergency pay during College specified winter emergencies and will receive double pay during those periods (heavy winter storms).
Education/Skills Requirements
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • This role will require a criminal background check and a physical assessment as part of pre-employment processing.

Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents
  • Must be knowledgeable on how to shovel, de-ice, sand, and salt walk-ways and roads on campus
  • Operating snow removal equipment is a plus
Standard Work Days and Hours
  • This an on-call position and employees must be available to work during winter storms.
  • Hours are varied, dependent on winter storms, employees may be scheduled to work up to 19 hours/per week.
