Working/Functional Title

Simulation Technology Specialist

Position Summary

This position is responsible for ongoing implementation of educational events utilizing multiple software programs and educational technologies for setup, event implementation, post event archiving/storage; assist faculty and staff in operational aspects of simulation; assist in design, development implementation and evaluation of simulation events; provide instructional tools and/or technical support necessary to carry out simulations; Provides independent systems programming support for multiple platform operating systems and related software such as human patient simulators and other educational technologies; performs first level diagnoses on hardware and software; maintains proficiency in existing and emerging technologies; responds to central MSU ITS communications/initiatives/maintenance; Plans, installs, implements and maintains computer systems, peripheral hardware data communications and telecommunications; Routinely monitors available storage space and implements processes to optimize space usage; support remote simulation sites relative to troubleshooting and maintenance; Support and accountability for inventory of technological equipment in the center including coordination, evaluation and recommending technology expenditures for the center; maintain records (e.g. repairs, warranties, etc.); Participate in generation of innovative approaches for technology improvement and integration into healthcare education; assist with technology workshops/trainings; assist with special project or initiatives as directed.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical, vocational or business school such as an Associates Degree in computer technology or information systems, with coursework in an information technology; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work information technology OR a Bachelors Degree in computer technology, information systems or educational technology; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area; or a combination of education and experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal, organizational, analytical and problem solving skills. Functions independently, self-directed, with minimal supervision necessary. Ability to provide exceptional customer service, meet project deadlines and complete tasks within designated and/or reasonable timeframes.

Desired Qualifications

Experience with Learning Space (LS) software and/or high fidelity simulator software programs.
