- Description
- I am seeking 3 – 4 technicians to assist with sika deer capture and camera trapping on Maryland’s Eastern Shore beginning January 30th, 2023. Capture techniques may include rocket nets, drop nets, and clover traps and will involve late nights and early mornings. Other duties include deploying, baiting, and monitoring camera traps, and analyzing photos. Hours will be long and irregular and will involve weekends. A field vehicle will be provided for field work. Housing is available through Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge (WiFi not guaranteed).
- Qualifications
- Required
– Ability to work long hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends in adverse weather conditions
– Ability to perform physical labor (lift at least 50 lbs) and hike long distance in difficult terrain.
– Ability to communicate and work as part of a team
– Ability to interact professionally with landowners, government agency staff, and the public work
– Ability to follow protocols
– Comfortable living in tight quarters in shared housing
– Possession of a valid U.S driver’s license
Preferred
– Experience capturing and handling wildlife
– Experience deploying camera traps
