Course Description: This is a 300-level course that will provide a holistic exploration of the multifaceted aspects of Kurdish life, delving deep into the vibrant traditions, struggles, and achievements of the Kurdish people. As we traverse through the diverse regions of Kurdistan and its diasporas, we will critically examine the current situations, challenges, and triumphs, offering an insightful perspective on a community that has played a significant role in the socio-political landscape of the Middle East. We will critically engage with classic and modern texts in Kurdish studies and examine them in the context of modern Middle East studies. We will aim to foster a deep understanding of the Kurdish identity and the complex forces that have shaped it.

Sessional Lecturer III, Long Term – $10,570.02 

FCE: 0.5 FCE

Minimum Qualifications: PhD in Near and Middle Eastern Civilizations or related field or equivalent knowledge and experience. Evidence of knowledge in subject matter. 

Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams; holding regular office hours; calculation and submission of grades (including and grading or submission of grades not completed by the end of the session); and other teaching related duties and administrative tasks associated with an undergraduate course.
