Description:
This research seminar elective explores the subject of urban commons, collectives and land trusts with special emphasis on social justice and anti-racist work. Students will engage in weekly readings, discussion and written responses surrounding, and develop mapping and accounts of historical and contemporary initiatives across Canada. This research will build on ongoing research in the USA and contribute to the critical understanding of the Landscape Architecture field and calls to action on Black Lives Matter, Truth and Reconciliation and Climate Change.
Class Schedule:
L0101 Thursday 12:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 to April 30, 2025
Estimate of the course enrolment: Approximately 12-15 students per section
Salary: Sessional Lecturer I – $9,457.90; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $9,930.79; Sessional Lecturer II – $10,121.77; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term – $10,326.62; Sessional Lecturer III – $10,362.76; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term – $10,570.02 (inclusive of vacation pay)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum Qualifications: MLA degree and a minimum of 3 years of professional practice in the Landscape Architecture field.
Preferred Qualifications: Good understanding of issues related to Anti-Black Racism and Inclusion. Lived experience, and/or academic/professional experience working in collaboration with Black / African American communities/. Teaching experience at a university level.
Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, supervision of teaching assistants; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations, and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions, and student contact hours.
