Course description:
Popular Education and Social Action: This course involves the study of a variety of perspectives in critical and community education as they relate to development and social change. Key issues in theory and practice will be examined through the study of classic writing in popular education, community organizing, feminist, socialist, anti-racist, anti-colonial and indigenous education/organizing.

Sessional dates of appointment: May 1, 2024 to June 30, 2024
Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I – $9,457.90;
Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term – $9,930.79;
Sessional Lecturer II – $10,121.77;
Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term – $10,326.62;
Sessional Lecturer III – $10,362.76;
Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term – $10,570.02
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications:
Candidates must hold a doctorate in Adult Education or a related field; have a demonstrated record of scholarship in the field of Adult Education and the subject area of the course; have practical experience related to the topic of the course; and have successful post-secondary teaching experience in the subject area of the course and a successful track record of teaching online, preferably using Canvas/Quercus.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience teaching graduate-level courses.
Description of duties:
Prepare, organize, and lead this graduate half course; be available to students seeking assistance between classes; and evaluate student work and provide students with feedback.
