Course number and title: Sessional Lecturer – LHA1811H – Organizational Change in Higher Education

Course description: 

This course examines multiple theories and concepts that will help learners better understand colleges and universities as complex organizations and how they change. The aim is to help learners acquire a strong conceptual foundation for their analysis of organizational issues faced by colleges and universities, and to familiarize themselves with useful theoretical tools for interpreting and explaining organizational change in higher education.

Class schedule (Lectures): Online Synchronous, Monday 17:00 – 20:00, Wednesday 17:00 – 20:00

Sessional dates of appointment: July 1, 2024 to August 31, 2024

Salary:

Sessional Lecturer I – $9,457.90;

Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term – $9,930.79;

Sessional Lecturer II – $10,121.77;

Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term – $10,326.62;

Sessional Lecturer III – $10,362.76;

Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term – $10,570.02

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum qualifications:

Candidates must hold a doctorate in Higher Education or a related field; have a demonstrated record of scholarship in the field of Higher Education and the subject area of the course; have practical experience related to the topic of the course; and have successful graduate teaching experience in the subject area of the course and a successful track record of teaching online, preferably using Canvas/Quercus.

Prepare, organize, and lead this graduate half course; be available to students seeking assistance between classes; and evaluate student work and provide students with feedback.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.

Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
