Course Code: KPE369H: Human Physiology II

Course description: This course is the complement to Human Physiology I and serves as an introduction to the fundamental principles of endocrinology, gastrointestinal and renal physiology, water and electrolyte balance, reproduction, immune function and the special senses. Physiological mechanisms underlying pathologies related to these systems will be explored. Additionally, scientific racism will be discussed, including examples relevant to the physiological topics covered and with a view to considering anti-oppressive practices in physiology. In conjunction with KPE260H1, this course will be of interest to those applying to second entry health sciences programs and/or those wishing to extend their foundational knowledge of human physiology.

Sessional Lecturer I – $9,457.90

Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term – $9,930.79

Sessional Lecturer II – $10,121.77

Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term – $10,326.62

Sessional Lecturer III – $10,362.76

Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term – $10,570.02

Minimum Qualifications: PhD preferred in a relevant area, or combination of relevant expertise and experience. Teaching experience in college or university setting is an asset.

Description of duties: All duties associated with the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to the course, if applicable. This course will be taught in person.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.

Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
