Course Code: KPE332H: Innovations in Mobile Health
Course description: Mobile health or mHealth utilizes the capabilities of a mobile device such as a cellphone to provide, disseminate, and measure health interventions and physical activity. mHealth has been used for disease management and prevention, physical activity monitoring and evaluation, monitoring of health status, providing access to health care services in remote areas, and for health and physical activity promotion. This course introduces students to the concepts, definitions, advantages, and limitations of mHealth. This course will be relevant to those who wish to pursue careers as health care providers, physical educators, and those who have a future in research and critical analysis.

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 – April 31, 2025
Appointment percentage: 0.5 FCE
Salary: Sessional Lecturer I: $9,457.90 includes 4% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $9,930.79 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,326.62 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76 includes 6% vacation pay
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $10,570.02 includes 6% vacation pay
Minimum Qualifications: PhD preferred in a relevant area, or combination of relevant expertise and experience. Teaching experience in college or university setting is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications: Over and above the minimum qualifications, preference will be given to individuals with prior graduate teaching experience in this area.
Description of duties: All duties associated with the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration, and marking of assignments, tests, and exams; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours; supervising TAs assigned to the course, if applicable. This course will be taught in an in-person format in the 2024-2025 academic year.
