Course Title: CHM211H5F Fundamentals of Analytical Chemistry

Course Description: A rigorous introduction to the theory and practice of analytical chemistry. Development and applications of basic statistical concepts in treatment and interpretation of analytical data; direct and indirect precipitations; volumetric methods; acid-base, complexometric, redox and precipitation titrations; introduction to instrumental methods; potentiometry and absorption spectroscopy. Applications in biomedical, forensic and environmental areas will be considered.

Dates of appointment: 03 September 2024 to 31 December 2024.

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I: $9457.90, including vacation pay. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Qualifications: Ph.D. in relevant area of Chemistry. Currency and mastery of subject area required. Past teaching experience and demonstrated excellence in teaching similar course.

Description of Duties: The duties of Sessional Lecturers shall include the normal duties associated with the design and teaching of university degree credit courses or sections of courses. These may include the preparation and delivery of course content, including lectures and/or seminars; creation of course ware; the development and administration of assignments, tests and examinations; the marking and grading of student work and the submission of grades to appropriate University officials in accordance with policy; the maintenance of reasonable hours of student contact outside of scheduled contact hours; and the supervision of the day-to-day work of any Sessional Instructional Assistants or Teaching Assistants assigned to the course.
