Description:

A continuation of philosophic and theoretical writings first introduced in JAV200. Concepts in epistemology, psychoanalysis, socio-political thought, economic theory, visual culture, semiotics, material culture, feminism, queer studies, postcolonial theory, critical race theory, and indigenous studies are explored through primary texts.

Class Schedule:

P0101- Monday 16:00 – 19:00

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025

Estimate of the course enrolment: Approximately 20 students per section

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I – $9,457.90; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $9,930.79; Sessional Lecturer II – $10,121.77; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term – $10,326.62; Sessional Lecturer III – $10,362.76; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term – $10,570.02 (inclusive of vacation pay)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications: MA, MFA (or equivalent graduate degree), or PhD (or equivalency in professional experience and terminal degree) in the field and previous lecture/seminar teaching experience. Applicants may be asked to supply references.

Preferred Qualifications: Internationally recognized practice.

Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, supervision of teaching assistants; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, final examinations, and deferred final examinations; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions, and student contact hours.
