Description:

This course introduces students to the basic principles of working with materials to produce three-dimensional and installation- based artworks. This hands-on project-based course includes individual and group critiques, seminars with relevant readings, and critical viewing of contemporary installation artworks. Some limited management of studio is required.

Class Schedule: Mon – 14:00 – 17:00

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024

Estimate of the course enrolment: Approximately 20 students per section

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I – $9,457.90; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $9,930.79; Sessional Lecturer II – $10,121.77; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term – $10,326.62; Sessional Lecturer III – $10,362.76; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term – $10,570.02 (inclusive of vacation pay)

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications: MFA (or equivalent graduate degree) required with teaching experience. Strong exhibition history and currently exhibiting artist. Applicants will be asked to supply references.

Preferred Qualifications: International practice, previous teaching experience.

Description of Duties: Preparation and delivery of course material; managing digital teaching materials, supervision of teaching assistants; preparation and delivery of assignments, tests, seminars; marking of student work, submission of grades, dealing with student enquiries, appeals and petitions and student contact hours. Some limited management of studio is required.
