Course description: The course addresses: (1) physical, technological and economic aspects of energy and electricity systems and their associated environmental impacts; (2) current international, Canadian and Ontario energy policy; (3) technological, economic and political factors influencing policy which could significantly reduce environmental impacts of energy use.

Estimated enrolment: 130 Students 

Estimated TA support: 130 hours

Class schedule: Lectures, Monday, 18:00 – 20:00.

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024

Salary:

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I – $9457.90; Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $9930.79;

Sessional Lecturer II – $10121.77; Sessional Lecturer II Long Term – $10326.62; 

Sessional Lecturer III – $10376.26; Sessional Lecturer III Long Term – $10570.02 

These salaries are inclusive of vacation pay. Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Minimum Qualifications: PhD or masters with equivalent professional and/or academic experience required. Understanding of energy technologies and their impacts, and of related politics and policy; relevant academic or professional publications.

Preferred Qualifications: Previous experience teaching a similar course is desirable.

Description of duties: development of the course curriculum and syllabus; holding classes and meeting with students; supervision of course TA’s; the preparation, the marking and the administration of assignments, tests and final exams; determination and submission of final grades; and general course administration.

This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with Article 14:12 of the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 collective agreement.

Please note: Undergraduate or graduate students and postdoctoral fellows of the University of Toronto are covered by the CUPE 3902 Unit 1 collective agreement rather than the Unit 3 collective agreement, and should not apply for positions posted under the Unit 3 collective agreement.
