ECO200Y1Y Microeconomic Theory (Section LEC5101)

Course Description:

Theory of markets and prices. Determination of prices through the interaction of the basic economic units, the household as consumer and as supplier of inputs and the business firm as producer and as employer of inputs. The pricing system as the mechanism by which social decisions and allocation of goods are made in a market economy.

Estimated course enrolment: 155

Estimated TA support: 434 hours (contingent upon enrolment and funding)

Class Schedule: Tuesday 18:00-20:00; Thursday 18:00-20:00

The delivery method for this course is currently in-person. Please note that, in keeping with current circumstances, the course delivery method may change as determined by the Faculty or the Department.

Minimum qualifications:

  • PhD in Economics
  • Prior experience teaching this course (or a similar course) at the university level
  • Ability and experience teaching large classes

Preferred qualifications:

  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching over four or more years

Description of duties:

  • Preparation and delivery of lectures in this course
  • Supervision of teaching assistant(s) assigned to course
  • Preparation, supervision and grading of tests and examinations in accordance with University regulations
  • Providing scheduled office hours for academic counseling of students
