Course number and title: Sessional Lecturer EAS370H1S – Media, Cultural Citizenship, and the Korean Diaspora
Course Description: This course explores how cultural and ethnic identity in diaspora is constructed in media texts and how the politics of national identity target various publics. We will examine the work of particular filmmakers, diasporic Korean celebrities in Korea, and digital platforms for producing public visibility, such as YouTube.

Sessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025
Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I – $9,457.90 (including 4% vacation pay);
Sessional Lecturer I – Long Term – $9,930.79 (including 6% vacation pay);
Sessional Lecturer II – $10,121.77 (including 6% vacation pay);
Sessional Lecturer II – Long Term – $10,326.62 (including 6% vacation pay) ;
Sessional Lecturer III – $10,362.76 (including 6% vacation pay);
Sessional Lecturer III – Long Term – $10,570.02 (including 6% vacation pay)
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications: Completed PhD in an area related to the course required with significant graduate work and ongoing academic development in the field.
Preferred qualifications: University-level teaching experience is preferred with evidence of superior teaching evaluations.
Description of duties: Preparing lesson plans and lectures; delivering lectures; developing and administering grading, course assignments, tests, and exams; and providing scheduled office hours for academic counselling students.
