CPS3901H Historical and Scientific Foundations of Psychology

Course description:

A critical and comprehensive examination of the historical, philosophical, and scientific bases of psychology. The overarching goal of this course is to inform students to use the history of the field to evaluate and think critically about how psychologists generate knowledge and how that may inform clinical science research and practice. In this course, there is a strong emphasis on historical topics in psychology more broadly and their relation to themes in clinical psychology.

Qualifications: Successful candidates must have completed their Ph.D., preferably in Clinical Psychology. The ideal candidate should have a breadth of experience and in-depth knowledge in the historical, philosophical, and scientific bases of psychology. 

Duties: Duties include delivery of all course components including, for example, lectures, hosting and moderating student presentations and discussions, delivery and/or submission of assignments and exams. Lectures are scheduled on Mondays.

Salary:

Sessional Lecturer I – $9457.90 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)  Sessional Lecturer I Long Term – $9930.79 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)  Sessional Lecturer II – $10121.77 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)  Sessional Lecturer III – $10362.76 inclusive of vacation pay (0.5 FCE)
