This is a vacancy for the first half of a full course
Course description: This course examines where humans fit in the fabric of the natural world. It explores the history of ideas about humans in nature, humans as primates, the story of human evolution and modern human physical and genetic diversity.
Estimated course enrolment: 150 students
Estimated TA support: 545 hours (total) – to be adjusted according to actual enrollment
Class schedule: Tuesdays 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Classes begin September 3 and end November 29, 2024
Sessional dates of appointment: September 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024 ***Course is co-taught.***
Salary:
Sessional Lecturer I: $9457.90
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term: $9930.79
Sessional Lecturer II: $10,121.77
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term: $10,326.62
Sessional Lecturer III: $10,362.76
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term: $ 10,570.02
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Minimum qualifications:
Ph.D. in Anthropology (preferably in Evolutionary Anthropology) required;
Demonstrated evidence of superior teaching is required
Description of duties: All duties associated with teaching an undergraduate course, including preparing the course outline, syllabus and lectures, delivering lectures, developing, marking and administering course assignments, tests & exams, holding regular office hours and the supervision of any assigned TA support.
