Position Description

The Department of Chemistry within the Faculty of Science invites applications for a CHEM 425 Sessional Instructor in the Winter 2023 term. The successful candidate will have responsibilities for instruction of lectures (3h per week) and associated duties for this 3-unit course

Course Description: Chemistry 425 – Industrial Chemistry 

Electrochemical processes and the applications of some of their products. Unit operations and reactor types in the chemical industry. Petroleum refining including heavy oil and bitumen. Industrial organic synthesis including monomers for subsequent polymerization. Design of specialized polymers.

Winter 2023 Term Dates: Tuesday, January 3, 2023 – Friday, April 28, 2023

Teaching Schedule: MWF 12:00PM – 12:50PM

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in chemistry and a strong, substantial record demonstrating teaching excellence. The appointees will be expected to remain abreast of current developments in science, particularly in Chemistry. Previous experience in teaching chemistry is an important asset.
