This is an open Contractually Limited Appointment (CLA) to the teaching stream for a 3-year term to commence August 1, 2026.
As with many healthcare professions, the role of Certified Athletic Therapists (CAT(C)) has been expanding in that they not only work with athletes in professional, elite, and school-related sport settings, but work with government, general and industrial workplaces, emergency departments, dance companies, private practice, and education. They will also be expected to develop and maintain relationships with clinical and field placement sites and clinical educators, working in collaboration with the Faculty of Health’s Global & Community Engagement Office (GCEO), which supports the administrative coordination of placement agreements and experiential education processes across the Faculty. The CLA will focus on the pedagogical and clinical quality dimensions of placement including the development and administration of appropriate workshops for students and clinical educators to ensure the safety, efficacy and quality of placements while simultaneously preparing students for suitable placement, tracking of the CATA educational competencies and supporting clinical educators in progressing students through Entrustable Professional Activities (EPAs). To help support students through their experiential education journey, remediation strategies for gaps in practical skills will be developed in conjunction with Athletic Therapy faculty and clinical educators when necessary, while the GCEO supports agreement administration and placement logistics.

First Nations peoples have lived on this part of Turtle Island for millennia, stewarding the land, the water and all that contributes to life in this region. Today, the culture and presence of First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples enrich the lands and people of this territory. More than two centuries ago, the Mississauga people welcomed settlers to this territory, providing sustenance and engaging in trade and commerce. Today, York University campuses are located on the Toronto Purchase Treaty No. 13 lands and territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the lands of the Anishinabek of the Williams Treaties First Nations. Our campuses are also situated on the traditional territories of the Huron-Wendat and the Haudenosaunee. Treaty history is foundational, and it is our collective responsibility to honour the land, as we honour and respect those who have gone before us, those who are here and those who have yet to come. We are grateful for the opportunity to be learning, working and thriving on this land, and we commit to learn the truth and be active in the process of reconciliation.
