Job Overview

Provide leadership and tier 3 (engineering level) support for operations of the platform for ServiceNow Configuration Management Database, Information Technology Service Management, ServiceNow Operations and ServiceNow Asset Management.  This position will assist the AVP of Customer Engagement & Operations in the establishment of a strategic roadmap for moving ServiceNow forward as the service platform that serves Digital Technology Solutions and the University community with a view towards Customer Service Excellence.

Essential Functions

  • Establish enterprise-wide technical architecture and implementation strategy setting the foundation for enduring success.
  • Drive standardization and best practice platform management, enabling a focus on value delivery and innovation.
  • In partnership with the University IT community, institute technical structure to optimize platform performance and minimize long-term technical risk.
  • Enable rapid upgrades to new features and innovation that drive new value.
  • Customize ServiceNow configurations, including custom scripts.
  • Optimize the ServiceNow data model and structures, proposing and enforcing coding standards and convention across the development teams.
  • Design, develop, and maintain integrations with other applications such as Active Directory, Jira, etc.
  • Evaluates new features in the platform with ServiceNow releases and the suitability/applicability in the current environment.
  • Responsible for meeting development schedules and ensuring the delivered solution meets the technical specifications and design requirements.
  • Maintain current Service-Now knowledge through self-study and utilization of available training.
  • Provide direct supervision of other ServiceNow staff (i.e., hiring/firing, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, approve time off, etc.).

Required Education

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, hardware engineering, or relevant degree.

Required Experience

Seven (7) years of related experience.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • Expert level understanding of client and server APIs.
  • Expert level understanding of Java JAR development for the ServiceNow MID Server.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of Service Now security architecture Experience integrating with other cloud based and legacy client business and IT platforms (PeopleSoft, SAP, Remedy).
  • Experience in the management of update sets.
  • Experience with client scripts and business rules.
  • Knowledge of User Interface actions and policies.
  • Able to work in Agile teams comprising of a Business Analyst, Program Lead and Clients.
  • Able to work with a high degree of accuracy and have a strong attention to detail.
  • Proven, solution oriented, IT leadership in an engineering-centric, product development, and delivery organization.
  • Proven track record of exceptional technical project management, prioritization, and communication.
  • Possess strong business acumen including the ability to interpret and understand financial statements. Solid understanding of how businesses operate to ensure job holder can carry on conversations with all functions of the enterprise.
  • Ability to drive and lead change, develop collaborative, productive working relationships across university groups and predict, recognize, and manage cultural and technological changes within the organization and the corresponding transitions required.
