About the Opportunity

Summary:

Reporting to the Sr. Associate Director of Operations for Event Management, the Sr. Technical Ops & Event Mgr will assist the Sr. Associate Director in all areas related to managing events in the Curry Student Center as well as assisting with events in the other Event Management venues if needed. This role will perform a variety of technical and professional services related to event production and venue operations in support of university-sponsored and external events in the Curry Student Center. This includes matters involving scheduling/reservations, event planning/advising/logistics, technical needs and venue maintenance. The Assistant Director will need to be present and ready to assist at major or high profile events scheduled in the Curry Student Center. The hours for this position are Tuesday – Saturday, 10am – 6pm.

Qualifications:

This position seeks candidates with a bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus at least 2-4 years experience in theatre production, event management, or event production. Supervisory skills and technical abilities are a must. Knowledge of safety protocol and fire codes necessary. Some experience in lighting and sound systems sufficient to supervise technical services and/or contract outside professionals. Experience with facility management and scheduling desirable. Basic typing and word processing necessary, computer data base experience helpful. Familiarity with multi-media production integrating Mac and PC. Looking for someone who is good at making quick decisions and troubleshooting/problem solving. Ability to manage multiple small and large event productions simultaneously. Ability to train and supervise students. Customer service focus and friendly, good interpersonal skills. Ability to be flexible with schedule which will include weekend hours and some holidays.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with clients on the coordination of event details.
  • Oversee security of facilities and events, inventory, and housekeeping of facilities.
  • Assist with recruiting, hiring, training, and development of student supervisors, work study students, and paraprofessional staff in areas of audio, video, front of house staff, and security.
  • Oversee and provide support for audio/visual, and other technical services needed for events.
  • Be onsite to manage and troubleshoot at all high profile events.
