The role

The Senior Technical Officer is a core member of the professional staff team, responsible for managing ongoing operation and maintenance of all AV equipment used to support the teaching activities, projects, and events at School of Business & Management. The incumbent is also responsible for providing design solutions for projects, events, and training courses, ensuring all designed materials are in line with RMIT branding guidelines.

Key Accountabilities

• Lead all design and video production tasks, including design of digital and printed materials of projects, events, and marketing related collaterals following RMIT branding guidelines.

• Provide digital strategic insight to improve the quality of the school’s publications and reports.

• Manage the production of printed collaterals and/or design projects to ensure delivery is on time and within budget.

• Develop educational and promotional video tools as well as documentary photography and videotape for the School of Business & Management.

• Collaborate with the relevant team (Marketing/Event team) and other stakeholders to produce design solutions to communicate client messages with high visual impact for print/web/design projects.

• Manage the equipment lending services to students, create and maintain accurate manuals, records, procedures, and policies for equipment loan and facilities usage.

• Develop and maintain equipment inventory; ensure that AV equipment is in a ready, serviceable condition to aid the school’s educational and corporate objectives. This includes developing plans for regular preventive maintenance, service, troubleshooting, and repair.

• Provide high-level technical support to staff and students in the safe provision of operating, editing, and processing lectures and events for projects, using a range of specialist AV hardware and software.

• Provide expert advice and file the necessary paperwork for the procurement of new equipment, hardware/software tools, and materials/components, as well as setting up of equipment/tools service contracts with approval from line managers and in consultation with Academic Staff who use the AV equipment and facilities for their projects.

• Cooperate with the IT Services department when required to ensure a smooth integration of the Department’s audio-visual hardware and equipment with other IT-related equipment.

• Other duties as directed by line manager and Academic Services and Advisory Manager

Key Selection Criteria

1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline

2. Outstanding design skills which demonstrate a passion for quality and innovation.

3. Proficient skills in digital video production and editing.

4. Theoretical and practical knowledge of digital media technologies and their applications. The candidate must have a working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite and related post-production software.

5. The technical knowledge and ability to operate and maintain audio-visual equipment and media facilities.

6. Knowledge of the educational and media/design environments in Vietnam and the ability to effectively operate in it

7. Well-developed verbal and written English communication skills to provide excellent customer support to staff and students.

8. Excellent team player with ability to work independently to be able to effectively handle a variety of design projects on time and within budget.

9. Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position, as per the RMIT Behavioural Capability Framework (Connectedness, Commitment to Excellence – Improve and Simplify; Imagination and Innovation; Impact; Inclusion; Agility).

English Proficiency

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS (General) with a score of at least 6.0 (or equivalent, as outlined in the Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding Guidelines).
