About the opportunity

The Senior Marketing & Communications Specialist (Non-Award) is responsible for the design and delivery of the marketing and communications strategy for the University’s Non-Award and Micro-credential Operating Model project.

The Non-award and Micro-credential Operating Model project team are responsible for implementing foundational systems, centralised marketplace (website), processes and resources to enable the University to deliver non-award courses, including micro-credentials, consistently at scale.

This role works in collaboration across the project team, the wider Marketing & Communications teams and Sydney Future Students. The incumbent will be required to provide customer and client-focused strategic marketing and communications advice, manage and implement marketing campaigns to enable the successful launch of a new centralised website showcasing the full University of Sydney range of micro-credentials and non-award courses. Reporting to Head, Student Marketing with a dotted line reporting to the Senior Project Manager in the Education Portfolio.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the progress of various marketing-related work streams and deliverables through a project management approach and is expected to exercise a high degree of initiative and judgement to coordinate multiple activities and resolve complex issues.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • conceptualise, develop and implement the marketing and communications strategy, and associated initiatives, campaigns and activities for the new website, by working collaboratively with the project team, Student Marketing, Digital Performance team and Sydney Future Students team.
  • lead all aspects of the marketing cycle to enable the successful launch of the new website to support the recruitment of non-award students (B2C) and ensure a superior digital experience for employer groups (B2B/B2G).
  • work with internal teams and external contractors, across the full spectrum of marketing, communications, design, UI/UX, and market intelligence, with a focus on ensuring the strategy and tactical implementation serves the needs and expectations of the target audience (B2C, B2B, B2G).
  • work closely with the market intelligence teams in Sydney Future Students and Marketing & communications teams, to ensure that the strategy and decisions are evidence-based.
  • conceptualise, develop and manage marketing content for the launch of the new website and relevant Faculty websites. This will include writing and editing content, ensuring content is relevant and meets web and SEO best practice and faculty objectives.
  • monitor and evaluate campaigns and user journeys and recommend adjustments or improvements, in addition to identifying new ways of communicating with target audiences.
  • work collaboratively with PSU and Faculty staff to ensure that strategic goals are achieved and integrated with other marketing and communications strategies and initiatives, delivering clear communication and supportive guidance provided.
  • establish and maintain stakeholder relationships through effective communication, consultation, negotiation and issues management.
  • ensure all marketing and communications comply with governance, quality and brand requirements.

About you

  • bachelor’s Degree in either; Communications, Marketing, Public relations or in a relevant field, or comparable professional experience for a minimum of 5 years
  • demonstrated experience in designing, developing and implementing strategy for a new suite of products
  • experience in an advertising or marketing communications role, ideally with demonstrable experience in a client and/or serviced focused role
  • experience in all aspects of the advertising, below the line, and online communications process
  • well-developed project management skills with the capacity to manage competing priorities, multiple stakeholders, budgets, maintain attention to detail and to meet deadlines
  • demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with key internal stakeholders within a complex organisation.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.
