Senior Student Life Officer

  • Base Salary $91,644 – $98,796 + 17% superannuation

About the opportunity

As the Senior Student Life Officer, you will coordinate tasks and activities associated with the delivery of Student Life programs and initiatives to students at the University. This includes coordination of Financial Support initiatives, student leadership training, orientation, and student enquiries.

You will coordinate and collaborate with teams from across the Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Life Cluster, central units, faculties and schools, and student groups on the development and delivery of student life programs and initiatives.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • work within a motivated and inclusive team, reporting to the Student Journey and Engagement Manager

  • implement initiatives across Welcome and Orientation, International, Transition and Financial Support

  • oversee responses to enquiries relating to Student Life services, and provide advice and information regarding services and contact points for both students and University staff

  • manage the ongoing administration and maintenance of a register of Student Life programs and initiatives, along with their status and progress

  • provide advice and information regarding financial support to prospective students, their parents, and community members including participation in university open days and information days

  • contribute to the development of materials and communication collateral, to increase awareness and effectiveness of Student Life programs.

About you

  • background in wellbeing promotion and prevention work, academic and career advising, student support services, or similar

  • experience in the coordination of high-quality, engaging, and interactive large-scale events and student facing initiatives, using a variety of delivery models and digital platforms 

  • highly developed cultural competence with the ability to understand, communicate with and effectively interact with people across cultures

  • flexibility in their organisation and planning skills to balance competing agendas and demands in a fast paced, time pressured environment

  • strong relationship management skills to be able to support a diversified stakeholder base.

  • prior experience in working in an education or university setting is highly desirable.

Please note: Visa sponsorship is not available for this position. For a continuing position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen or an Australian Permanent Resident.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the position.

Similarly, your ongoing employment is conditional upon the satisfactory maintenance of all relevant clearances and background check requirements.
