The following position is available to strengthen our team of the Migration and Globalisation Department at the Faculty of Business and Globalisation: Senior Scientist – Post Doc (m/f/d) 30 hrs./week for 2 years or 40 hrs/week for 1.5 years Advertisement No. SB24-0080 We are looking for a Post-Doctoral Researcher interested in conducting independent research on ethical issues related to migration policy making. The topic should fit broadly within the thematic scope of the project The Ethics of Migration Policy Dilemmas (“Dilemmas” for short. For more information, see: https://migrationpolicycentre.eu/projects/dilemmas-project/). Candidates should submit a brief outline in their application defining the topic they want to research about and explaining in which way their topic relates to the aims of the Dilemmas project. In particular, we welcome applications by researchers that have recently finished their PhD and who want to use the time to publish one or two articles out of (or as a follow-up to) their dissertation work, as well as to prepare a new research proposal for external funding (for example by the Austrian Science Fund’s ESPRIT program, the Austrian Academy of Sciences’ APART program, or the European Union’s Marie Curie program). The advertised position will be integrated into the research group led by Prof. Julia Mourão Permoser at the Department for Migration and Globalization. The selected candidate is expected to collaborate closely with researchers working within the research group, as well as with other members within the Department. The position shall start in January 2025 or soon thereafter. The position can be taken up full time or part time, depending on availability and preference of the candidate. The duration of the position varies with the number of working hours per week. It can last for either 1,5 years (40 hrs/week) or for 2 years (30 hrs/week). Your profile We require evidence of the following qualifications for the application: Completed university degree (doctorate/PhD) in the fields of political sciences, economics, sociology, geography, population studies or related discipline Publications in peer-reviewed journals Previous experience and proven interest (as demonstrated by PhD topic, professional background and publications) in the field of migration studies Excellent writing skills Excellent English skills (min. C1) In addition, the following criteria are desirable: Proven interest in, and familiarity with, the political theory of migration and migration ethics Experience in the acquisition of third-party funds Your perspective Part-time position (30 hours/week) initially limited to 2 years or full-time position (40 hour/week) initially limited to 1.5 years, with a minimum salary of EUR 4,752.30 gross per month on a full-time basis (classification according to § 49 VwGr.
