We offer an annual gross salary of at least € 66,532.20 for a fulltime position. • Completed doctorate/PhD in the field of Astrophysics
• Excellent publication activity in the field of stellar astrophysics
• Knowledge of FORTRAN and experience in developing sophisticated numerical codes
• Experience in developing computationally efficient approaches for radiative transfer in stellar atmospheres and in conducting radiative magnetohydrodynamics simulations of stellar atmospheres
• Experience with the MURaM and MPS-ATLAS code and experience in modelling magnetically-driven stellar variability will be considered as an advantage
• Excellent command of English and German
• Enjoyment of working with people in an internationally oriented environment
• Interest in the supervision of students and in teaching
• Independent working style and high level of initiative
• Ability to communicate and work in a team

• Work on the implementation of development goals in research, teaching and administration
• Autonomous and cooperative research in the field of stellar atmospheres and variability: The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of a simulation grid of 3D stellar atmospheres and their spectra, including the impact of the magnetic field. This work will include modifying the radiative magnetohydrodynamics (MHD) code MURaM and the radiative transfer code MPS-ATLAS to enable realistic simulations of the atmospheres of the coolest main sequence stars. The successful applicant is expected to actively contribute to the development of models of stellar variability, including the magnetic contamination of exoplanet transmission spectra and radial velocity measurements
• Independent publication activity in the field of stellar astrophysics
• Participation in research projects of the institute in the field of stellar astrophysics
• Participation in the application process for third-party funded projects
• Independent teaching of courses and conducting of examinations
• Supervision of students
• Cooperation in organizational and administrative tasks as well as in evaluation measures
• Participation in public relations work in Astrophysics
