As a driver of innovation, TU Wien fosters close collaboration with business and industry and contributes to the prosperity of society.At the Institute of Fluid Mechanics and Heat Transfer, in the Research Unit of Fluid Mechanics TU Wien is offering a position as senior scientist (all genders) for 40 hours/week. Expected start: June 2024.Tasks:

  • In our Institute, we have developed an in-house HPC-FORTRAN code based on a pseudo-spectral method in combination with an Eulerian phase-field method for interface capturing and with passive /active scalar transport of heat and species
  • The candidate will use her_his skills to mantain/further develop the code, to implement and optimize parallelization strategies, to perform numerical simulations and to instruct new PhD and Master students
  • The candidate is expected to deliver also teaching in the field of Gas dynamics, Aerodynamics and Biofluid mechanics, to acquire independent funding and to supervise bachelor, master and doctoral students. With equal qualification, female candidates will be given preference

Your profile:

  • Completed doctorate in mechanical engineering
  • In-depth knowledge of fluid mechanics
  • A strong experience in simulation of liquid/liquid multiphase turbulent flows with heat transfer
  • Experience in simulation of biological flows with particular regard to flow in the human upper respiratory tract
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pseudo-spectral numerical methods and of phase-field methods
  • Knowledge of FORTRAN and of High Performance Computing
  • Experience in performing simulations of flows in complex geometries using commercial softwares/Openfoam preferable
