The Community and Health Research Unit (CaHRU), led by Professor Niroshan Siriwardena, is the research centre of the School of Health and Social Care at the University of Lincoln. CaHRU undertakes world-leading, independent empirical and operational research relating to quality improvement in health and social care. Our research has an important influence on policy and clinical and operational practice in the UK and beyond, in the fields of adult and children’s health and social care including evidence-based treatment, clinical and social outcomes, and quality and cost-effectiveness evaluation.

The work of CaHRU is organised into five broad areas: Quality and Outcomes in Primary Healthcare (QOPH), Prehospital and Emergency Quality and Outcomes (PEQO), Enhancing Experience and Equity in Healthcare (EPiC), Pandemic and Covid-19 studies, and Lincoln Clinical Trials Unit (LinCTU). CaHRU led the successful Allied Health Professions submission to REF2021 including three impact case studies rated (4*, 4* and 3*) and outputs, over 90% of which were world-leading or internationally excellent.

We are inviting applications for a Senior Research Fellow in Health Economics to support our expanding programme of health services research. This will include measuring and analysing health economic outcomes across a variety of studies (e.g., primary care, acute hospital care, and ambulance services) and undertaking analysis of large datasets and longitudinal data. The post-holder will be required to work on research programmes funded through a wide range of organisations including the UK Research Councils, the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR), the Health Foundation and a number of charitable trusts and private corporations and with a range of local, regional (NIHR Research Design Service, NHS Trusts) and national bodies.

The successful candidate will hold a PhD in health economics or a closely related discipline. They will have experience of conducting health economic evaluations including analyses of cost and outcome data alongside trials and evaluations, working with large databases and developing econometric models. The candidate will have excellent knowledge of statistical packages commonly used in econometrics and economic studies (e.g., STATA, R).

The post is an exciting opportunity for an experienced researcher to contribute to an expanding portfolio of policy relevant research in a dynamic and growing team of academic staff committed to the evaluation of healthcare innovations, technologies, quality and outcomes.
