Senior Research Fellow (Dementia)

Two years fixed term (0.6 FTE)

Keele University is a lead partner institution (in conjunction with the University of Birmingham and Warwick University) for the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration West Midlands (ARCAM). Recently the NIHR, working with the Alzheimer’s Society, has announced new funding to strengthen capacity and capability in dementia health and care research across all ARC Nationally. The ARCWM aims to establish a dementia research programme with a specific focus on social care. This programme of work links to existing ARCWM Research Themes (Long Term Conditions, Social Care) and includes three inter-linked work packages, that together will identify and address broad challenges faced within the current provision of social care to those who live with dementia. Keele University are hosting two of these work packages and we seek to appoint a talented mid-career researcher with knowledge and experience of working within a dementia and/or social care research background. You will work collaboratively with other work package research fellows and across the ARCWM and wider NIHR infrastructure to deliver on this programme.

This particular post is for a senior research fellow who, in addition to delivery of a specific work package focused on social care practice for those who live with dementia, will also provide leadership to the full ARCWM dementia research group. You will have a PhD in a health or social care subject, have knowledge and experience of qualitative/quantitative/mixed research methodology, a background of dementia and social care research applicable to the ARCWM dementia programme, and experience of research leadership. This post is advertised at 0.6FTE for two years, with excellent potential for continuation subject to successful grant applications and funding.
