Your New Role

This senior technical lead role offers the opportunity to meaningfully support the University’s People and Wellbeing function by ensuring accurate operating of the payroll and benefits program and systems. You will be responsible for providing the subject matter expertise, effective support and resolution of complex payroll matters whilst enabling pro-active process improvement opportunities to the delivery of the University’s payroll function.

You will be involved in and lead continuous improvements within the payroll area, and identification of any compliance issues, working with the team and wider stakeholders to resolve these, and implementing relevant processes.

The Payroll & Benefits team within Shared Services is one of the University Services frontline providers for the University’s staff and students. These customer service and transactional processing teams also include specialists to assist with complex technical requests or services and work collaboratively with the core service areas to provide an end-to-end service.

What You’ll Need to Succeed

A degree qualification in an area relevant to payroll services and/or combination of relevant experience, education and/or training.

Your technical payroll experience, skills and knowledge across tax, superannuation, records management and industrial legislation will be required as a strong foundation for providing guidance and advice to the team and stakeholders. This experience will be supported by your ability to execute payroll procedures and practices, including financial reconciliations using the University’s computerised accounting packages. Your ability to prioritise, meet deadlines and analyse complex issues will empower you to succeed in your new role.

On offer is a full-time, ongoing role based in Launceston or Hobart.  Appointment to this role will be at HEO 8 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $139,269 comprising base salary within the range of $104,688 to $119,034 plus 17% superannuation.
