Position Summary:
Incumbent performs clinical assessment and care management for orthopedic outpatients Presents relevant patient data to the physician. Removes sutures. Applies and removes casts and splints. Collects and records patient data. Provides patient information and instructions. Monitors patient flow during clinic hours. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served, i.e. neonate, pediatric, adult or geriatric and provide the care needed. Demonstrates positive attitude and excellent customer service to all

Responsibilities:
Administers patient treatments or procedures in a safe, effective and age appropriate manner, and in compliance with all policies and regulations
Demonstrates appropriate use of independent judgment and decision making
Accurately follows department guidelines in preparing patients for clinic visits.
Creates and maintains the sterile field
Applies casts and splints according to physician specifications
Seeks direction or clarification from licensed personnel as needed
Assists in cleaning patient care areas
Maintains records, answers phones and prepares reports on the volume of work performed
Assists clinic personnel in medical emergencies
Accurately documents procedures performed during the office visit
Applies soft goods according to physician specification
Provides educational materials to patients in a timely manner
Provides accurate discharge orders to patients in accordance with all policies and regulations

Required Qualifications:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
Understanding of medical terminology
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Minimum 2 years experience working as an Orthopaedic Technician
Current Orthopaedic Technologist Certified (OTC) from National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologists, or Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT) certification from the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals
BLS certification upon hire
Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Knowledge and abilities essential to the performance of the duties assigned to the position
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
