  • Join CSIRO and support Australia’s premier scientific organisation!

This role is in the Engineering and Technology Program of the National Collections and Marine Infrastructure Business Unit and will focus on the design of mechanical systems to support research within the Business Unit and CSIRO.

In your role as Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for the development of solutions for a wide variety of ocean and atmospheric observing systems to meet the requirements of research projects. Where appropriate, you will also be the project manager responsible for the on-time, and on-budget delivery of unique research tools.

Your duties will include:

  • Design or develop experimental equipment, techniques, systems, or processes requiring high levels of initiative, ingenuity, and skill in the areas of Mechanical, Structural, and Ocean Engineering.
  • Undertake work that is highly involved with unique or unusual features and complexity that require original design and techniques, some of which may be outside a single discipline.
