Senior Manager, Portfolio Governance & Change


Job Description

HEP 10, $127,819 per annum plus 17% employer superannuation contribution.  This is a full time (36.75 hours per week) ongoing appointment.

About the role

Working closely with our Portfolio and Program Management teams within the ITS PMO, you will lead, manage and provide expert advice across our portfolio of initiatives to enhance and support the University’s innovative use of technology. In addition to your Governance expertise, you will have experience in guiding and influencing stakeholder relationships, working with project governance frameworks across entire project lifecycles – and thrive in an agile, delivery-focused environment.

The overall purpose of the Senior Manager, Portfolio Governance & Change is to provide strategic governance and change leadership across a complex multi-million-dollar program of work that delivers substantial and whole-of-University business value.  You will provide high level specialist advice and recommendations to the Director PMO and leadership team to develop, review and implement continuous improvement strategies, policies, processes, and systems to embed in governance frameworks.

Managing a team of Portfolio Analysts (specialising in finance, benefits and change management) and Communication Specialists, you will have responsibility for leading communication and engagement activities with key stakeholders and in addition, will manage the delivery of governance and change management initiatives.

About the person

The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a PMO Governance role with in-depth knowledge of Change Management and Benefits practices.  Demonstrated experience in leading successful and diverse teams, leaning on an outgoing personality and excellent communication skills, delivering outcomes, with an emphasis on

 Duties

  • Leading the development and review of current project governance processes, resources and implementation of IT frameworks.
  • Managing the portfolio budget, ensuring accurate and punctual financial reporting and forecasting.
  • Leading the governance of initiatives within the portfolio, on time and within budget, in accordance with the project plan and business case, while ensuring the overall integrity of the project and benefits realisation.
  • Developing relevant policy and implement robust processes consistent with current University legislative and policy requirements, to support ongoing management of the overall governance and controls with the ITS PMO.
  • Leading and managing forums and activities associated with the documentation, design and development of relevant Portfolio investment and Change methodologies.
  • Providing PMO governance, reporting and analysis, through activities relating to capturing and reporting of benefits, dependencies, and portfolio risks.
  • Mentoring and developing staff to build change capability and maturity within the ITS and stakeholder community.
  • Managing Stakeholder and third party contributions to the change program as appropriate, the dependencies and the interfaces between projects and managing the change risks to ensure a successful outcome whilst demonstrating a high competency level and a professional approach.
