SALARY RANGE:$90,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience
POSITION SUMMARY
USA for UNFPA is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven frontline fundraiser to manage and grow a portfolio of major donors and prospects. The Senior Manager will cultivate, solicit, and steward relationships to secure $10,000+ gifts and multi-year commitments in support of USA for UNFPA’s mission and strategic priorities, including stewardship for Legacy Society members and other donors with documented planned gifts. As a key member of the Leadership Giving team, this role contributes to a $5 million annual fundraising program and helps advance a high-touch strategy focused on long-term donor relationships and sustained revenue growth.
This role spends a minimum of 50% of time in direct donor engagement through personalized outreach and in-person and virtual meetings, with an emphasis on building long-term relationships that increase commitment and investment over time. Limited travel and availability on evenings and weekends are expected for events and donor engagement. This position is based in the NYC metro area and requires regular in-person donor engagement.
The Senior Manager works closely with the Director of Leadership Giving and the Discovery Manager to identify, qualify, and develop new relationships and to advance strategies that support organizational growth.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects developing and executing individualized engagement and solicitation strategies to advance qualification, deepen commitment, increase giving, and secure multi-year support.
- Build and sustain strong relationships through consistent outreach, in-person and virtual meetings, and high-quality donor communications with timely follow-up
- Lead solicitations for five- and six-figure gifts, including preparing proposals and gift agreements.
- Partner with senior leadership to identify and cultivate new prospects, leverage networks, and advance introductions
- Lead stewardship for Legacy Society members and donors with documented planned gifts, ensuring consistent engagement, recognition, and long-term commitment
- Plan and lead select cultivation experiences, including events, briefings, and donor travel or field engagement opportunities as needed
- Maintain accurate, timely donor records in Raiser’s Edge, including contact reports, next steps, proposal tracking, and action follow-through, and use portfolio data to drive decision-making
- Drive portfolio performance through regular portfolio reviews, pipeline health checks and revenue forecasting, surfacing risks early and adjusting strategy as needed
- Track and interpret portfolio performance indicators (pipeline movement, contact volume, proposal pipeline and close rate) and translate insights into weekly priorities and next steps
- Contribute to team effectiveness by refining shared tools and processes (templates, contact report standards, proposal workflows, stewardship tracking, and meeting preparation tools) in partnership with the Leadership Giving team
- Support donor events and cultivation activities, including scheduling, logistics, briefing preparation, and post-event follow-up
- Mentor and support junior colleagues as needed, modeling excellent donor practice and strong CRM discipline
EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of progressive major gifts fundraising experience with demonstrated success securing five- and six-figure gifts
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with experience engaging major donors, senior leadership and Board Members
- Excellent writing and communication skills, including proposal development and donor-ready communications
- Strong CRM discipline (Raiser’s Edge or similar) and comfort using data to manage performance
- Experience planning donor events and high-touch donor experiences preferred
- People management or mentorship experience preferred
- Experience stewarding Legacy Society members or donors with documented planned gifts preferred
