Senior Lecturer (Special Educational Needs (NASENCo) )

The National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) is a programme which supports teachers to become a leader for SEND in their school. This one-year, part-time course is a mandatory qualification for all newly appointed SENCos in mainstream schools. This person appointed to this role will lead and develop this provision, for which we are an accredited provider, meeting the Quality Standard for the National Award for SEN Coordination. The appointee will help SENCos across the region, both at the university and through local area groups, gain confidence to successfully lead and strengthen provision in their school.

You will help SENCos across the region, both at the university and through local area groups, gain confidence to successfully lead and strengthen provision in their school. There may be opportunities to contribute to the other teacher education programmes within the School of Teacher Education. The role is temporary in the first instance.

About you:

We are looking for colleagues with the potential to develop, deliver and lead our NASENCo programme. You will have relevant subject knowledge, a good relevant undergraduate and postgraduate degree, hold QTS and have relevant teaching / sector experience. You will need to be confident in delivering professional development to serving teachers.

You will also receive an additional discretionary payment of 2% per annum, which is in recognition of staff contribution to the University’s achievements and which will be added to your base salary each month until 31st July 2023.
