The Opportunity

The Department of Nutrition, Dietetics and Food undertakes nutrition-based multi-disciplinary research and teaching. Course offerings include a three-year undergraduate program in Nutrition Science, the first international course to be accredited by the Association for Nutrition, and a Masters of Dietetics course, accredited by the Dietitians Association of Australia. In 2021, the Department had around 30 PhD students enrolled, and also runs a range of professional development online short-courses.

Reporting to the Head of Department, Nutrition, Dietetics and Food, the purpose of the position is to conduct research and teach students in the multidisciplinary field of nutrition, enhancing the national and international reputation of the Department. The academic will be responsible for developing, and, where appropriate, leading research collaborations, programs and projects including supervision of PhD students. The position also involves enthusiastic and knowledgeable teaching activities to improve the standing of our main undergraduate and master’s degree courses.

As the successful candidate some of the duties you will be responsible for;

• The conduct of research: publications in international peer-reviewed top quartile journals including original research, reviews and systematic reviews
• Significant role in research projects including, where appropriate, leadership of a research team
• The conduct of tutorials, practical classes, workshops, and/or clinical sessions
• Initiation and development of course material
• Course/unit coordination
• The preparation and delivery of lectures and seminars
• Supervision of major honours or postgraduate research projects
• Supervision of the program of study of honours students, of postgraduate students, and undergraduate students engaged in course work

The appointee will have a PhD in nutrition or related subject (biochemistry, physiology, cell biology, biomedical science) and standing and/or recognised significant experience in these areas.
