THE ROLE
You will be expected to support teaching & learning for undergraduate/postgraduate modules, provide pastoral care to students, engage in cutting-edge research, and contribute to recruitment and outreach activities. You will develop and deliver engaging teaching and learning as a member of the cybersecurity team in a variety of settings from small group tutorials to large lectures. You will also set and mark assessments providing timely and constructive feedback to students.
As a Senior Lecturer in Cyber Security, you will be expected to contribute to the leadership and management of academic teams to develop and deliver taught programmes, including oversight of day to day processes. You will also be expected to provide academic leadership to those working within programme areas, for example by agreeing work plans to ensure that programmes are delivered effectively or organising the work of a team by agreeing objectives and work plans.
Further, you will explore and innovate ways of improving performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery and obtaining and analysing feedback. You will be expected to engage in cutting-edge research and enterprise activities through own-initiative and collaboration with peers in academia and industry, leading to external funding and publications in reputable venues. You will also be expected to engage in identifying sources of funding and lead development of proposals for research funding.
You will possess core cybersecurity skillset with strong experience of teaching at university level within different topics of cybersecurity. You will also have a proven track record of publishing research articles at reputable venues and an ability to develop research proposals to seek external funding. You will be passionate about supporting students through their educational journey and keen to learn and adopt inclusive practices to engage with students from diverse abilities and backgrounds.
With core expertise in cyber security, it will be advantageous for candidates to have expertise in Cyber Physical Systems, Machine Learning and AI, and Future Networks. Membership of a professional bodies (such as the BCS, the IET, ISACA or ISC2), industry-recognised certifications, and professional registration (such as CITP or CEng) is also beneficial.
