Senior Lecturer, College of Communication, Boston University

Senior lecturers are non-tenure-track faculty members appointed primarily to provide instruction, bringing to the classroom strong teaching skills combined with relevant educational and professional expertise and achievement in an inclusive learning environment. Senior lecturers at COM are covered under a collective bargaining agreement with SEIU Local 509, the Massachusetts Union of Human Service Workers and Educators.

Teaching assignments for this senior lecturer position include one or more of the following courses for a total of three courses per semester:
● CO 201 – Introduction to Communication Writing
● CM 331 – Writing for Communication
● CM 520 – The COMmunicator
● CM 555 – Advanced Writing for Media Professionals
● CM 703 – Basic Media Writing
● CM 707 – Writing for Media Professionals

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess degree(s) in a communications field (e.g., advertising, journalism, public relations, or other media-focused discipline) and be able to lead courses covering the fundamentals and advanced topics in media writing, writing on behalf of an organization (appropriate in tone and voice) across a variety of media. A strong background in writing and/or editing in one or more of these areas is essential, as well as the ability to educate about and enforce anti-plagiarism. Successful higher-education teaching experience, including DEI-related pedagogy that is inclusive or that creates an inclusive environment, is strongly preferred. A background in ESL instruction is also a plus.
