Senior Lecturer – Children’s Hospital

  • Full time continuing position as Level C (Senior Lecturer) based at Children’s Hospital at Westmead Clinical School

  • Clinical academic Leadership opportunity 

  • Base Salary $138,645 – $159,867 + 17% superannuation + additional clinical loading of $37,000. In addition to the USYD Level C contract, the clinical academic will be employed by the NSW Health Service at 40% of the award salary of a Staff Specialist employed under the Staff Specialists (State) Award.

About the opportunity

At the University, a Senior Lecturer is expected to make a significant contribution to the research, education and administrative endeavours of their School/ Faculty while building their reputation towards becoming an authority in the discipline (paediatric medicine). The successful candidate will be a paediatrician (general or subspecialist) with a strong track record in research and education (relative to opportunity).

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • become a key and reliable clinical academic and team member at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead Clinical School

  • make independent, original and innovative contributions to research, and develop a research profile at national and international level

  • make research contributions including publications and grant applications, which meets University expectations

  • make a significant contribution in education delivery and development, which includes MD teaching, Masters coursework and/or higher degree research supervision

  • perform leadership roles with significant impact in scholarly, research and professional activities

  • perform fractional clinical duties in your area of paediatric medicine.

About you

  • a paediatrician or paediatric subspecialist who has completed training and is recognised as consultant

  • completed research training as PhD, or in final stages of PhD training

  • clinical academics in all areas of paediatric medicine and subspecialty paediatric medicine are encouraged to apply. Alignment with the strategic priorities of USYD and Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network, such as Advanced therapeutics and clinical trials, are strongly encouraged to apply

  • demonstrate a clear track record in research, and potential to be future research leader

  • demonstrate evidence of experience in medical education, and curriculum development

  • demonstrate evidence of emerging leadership skills and potential for future academic leadership.
