Position overview

ANU has an international reputation for research and education relevant to the health and well-being of the population of Australia, as well as that of the developing world. This is achieved through discovery research, applied research in health service settings, research-led teaching in health and medical sciences, and the translation of research findings into practice and policy. The ANU College of Health and Medicine comprises the ANU School of Medicine and Psychology, the John Curtin School of Medical Research and the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health. These schools work together to deliver world-class research and education across the spectrum of medicine and health-related fields, working in partnership with the health sector at local, national and international levels.  

The Academic Unit of General Practice is the organisational unit within the ANU SMP with a focus on general practice and primary health care research and education. Our educational responsibilities include general practice as well as contributions to clinical skills, population health and evidence-based medicine within the Doctor of Medicine and Surgery program, Medicinae ac Chirurgiae Doctoranda, (MChD), of the ANU SMP. Our research agenda involves articulating and measuring the value of primary health care within the Australian health care system and educational research.

The Senior Lecturer is located in the Academic Unit of General Practice based at the Canberra clinical school and physically located at the Canberra Hospital Campus and will be focused in general practice but may include other areas such as evidence based medicine, clinical skills, indigenous health and population health in the MChD program. The functions includes the preparation and delivery of lectures and tutorials; the preparation of online material; marking and assessment; consultations with students; acting as a subject coordinator; the initiation and development, review and amendment of course/subject material and actively lead overall development of course.
