About This Opportunity
The primary purpose of this position is to provide academic leadership for and contribute to the delivery of the UQ Doctor of Medicine’s General Practice Course at the Bundaberg Regional Clinical Unit (BRCU). The appointee will play an important role in the management of relationships with General Practitioners, General Practices, other relevant professions, students, and other stakeholders.
The position reports to the Head, Bundaberg Regional Clinical Unit.
Key responsibilities will include
Teaching and Learning
Provide leadership for, and contribute to, clinical training, supervision, and assessment for the General Practice course,
Ensure the appropriate clinicians and clinical placement opportunities are available to students as per the General Practice course requirements,
Liaise with local General Practitioners, General Practices, the General Practice Clinical Unit, BRCU academic and professional staff to optimise teaching and learning opportunities and outcomes for students
Assist with the induction, professional development and mentoring of GP clinical teachers and/or preceptors, ensuring they are provided with relevant information and resources to facilitate students’ learning experience,
Participate in the coaching and mentoring of students and notify the Head of the Bundaberg Regional Clinical Unit and/or General Practice Course Coordinator where there are any issues that may minimise student success,
Participate in quality assurance and improvement activities with the goal of enhancing delivery of the teaching and learning program.
Research
Contribute, as appropriate, to research and/or scholarship in a field of interest relevant to the Rural Clinical School’s mandate and research priorities.
Service and Engagement
Foster the UQRCS’s relations with local training providers, health care professionals, community, and community stakeholders to achieve innovation, vertical integration, and inter-professional (team-based) learning in program delivery.
Represent the BRCU on the General Practice Clinical Unit General Practice teaching, learning and assessment committees and where relevant community committees,
Support the Head, as may be required, with a commitment to developing and strengthening BRCU activities in key program areas.
Work with the UQ Regional Training Hub Wide Bay Primary Care Workforce Lead to promote rural and regional General Practice careers to medical students and junior doctors where possible.

About You
A medical qualification together with postgraduate training in general practice or equivalent, e.g., FRACGP, FACCRM.
Demonstrated expert knowledge in the discipline of general practice together with current or recent practice as a medical practitioner in general practice.
Proven teaching skills at medical student level
An ability to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the learning program and, specifically the General Practice Clinical Unit and wider community level to include professional groups and agencies.
Higher order communication, interpersonal and strong leadership skills.
Ability to supervise, mentor and nurture medical students.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, stakeholders and students.
Willingness to contribute to research and/or scholarly work.
What We Can Offer
This is a part-time (0.2 FTE) fixed-term position from 1st January 2023 through to 31st December 2023 at Academic Level C.
The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $124,378.29 – $143,415.50 plus super of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be in the range $145,522.60
– $167,796.24 per annum.The following flexible employment options may be available for this role; some working from home; variable start or finish times; compressed hours; purchased leave; flex-time.

AHPRA registration: It is a requirement of this position that the incumbent holds and maintains full AHPRA registration
