Senior/Lead Developer

Office of Information Technology

The Developer is an accomplished software developer and analyst, and is someone who can take on technical leadership responsibilities.  The incumbent will be a senior member of project teams for implementation of commercial, open source, and cloud-based applications, as well as for building, enhancing, and maintaining custom-built applications.  The incumbent will also be called upon to lead and/or organize smaller projects.

Job Qualifications

For Grade 10: 2 – 3 years of experience in programming or other technical area in the development of administrative applications including experience with relational database management systems required.

For Grade 11: 4 – 5 years of experience in programming or other technical area in the development of administrative applications including experience with relational database management systems required.

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Familiarity with different SDLC methodologies and related processes required.
  • Strong analysis skills required
  • Working experience with ERP systems, particularly Ellucian Banner ERP highly desired
  • Working experience with cloud-based applications highly desired
  • Knowledge of Oracle Database and Pl/sql programming skills highly desired.
  • Java programming background and/or Groovy/Grails programming knowledge desired.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as Cognos or Jasper Reports desired.
  • Experience in developing Web APIs and/or RESTful Web Services a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively with people with differing levels of technical knowledge
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (both oral and written)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Knowledge of project management techniques
  • Working in Higher Education a plus
  • Demonstrates a willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment
