Senior Laboratory Executive (Safety Officer)

Staff will be part of the team responsible for the implementation of University level workplace safety and health (WSH) programs and management systems in our facilities, departments, NUS research institutes and other workplaces in the University.

Duties & Responsibilities

To assist NUS departments in implementing their safety & health programmes and procedures. 

Staff will be responsible for the following areas: 
A. Radioiostope Safety
– Compliance
– Safety Oversight
– Radiation Lab Operations

B. Laboratory and Chemical Safety 
– Interface with Researchers
– Central Research Support
– Central Administration
– OSHE Liaison 

C. Animal Research Safety
– Work with researchers and Comparative Medicine to develop and implement protcol specific procedures for handling animals and their cage when biohazards, chemical or radiation hazards are involved
 

Requirements

– Degree in Life Sciences, Physical/Natural Sciences or Engineering
– At least 3 years’ working experience in research or teaching laboratories 
– Knowledge and experience in legislative requirements for safety, in particular for research and educational based institutions 
– Pursuing or completed Specialist Diploma in Workplace Safety & Health or Occupational Hygiene 
– Effective communication and technical writing skills, with attention to details 
– Able to multi-task and possess strong people skills 
– Laboratory Officers are encouraged to apply
– Experience with animl based research and occupational safety issues
