Job Description

 

Responsible for the overall operation, administration, and performance of the VPRP institute and centers on behalf of the Director of Financial Administration, including but not limited to full responsibility for accounting duties, financial analysis, budget and report preparation, and policy/procedure development. 

Typical Functions May Include:

  • Manages accounts for the VPRP.  Reconciles accounts monthly and creates cost spending certification reports.  Monitors and ensures money is spent correctly.  Ensures invoices are put on correct accounts. Makes cash deposits into special accounts. Prepares department budget.
  • Analyzes departmental financial procedures.  Makes recommendations for change and develops strategies for change.
  • Monitors department timelines to ensure resources are available and applied appropriately to achieve desired performance goals in a timely manner. 
  • Provides active tracking tools summaries for all projects designated by senior leadership. Summarizes individual project’s progress and risks to senior leadership.
  • Develops departmental policy by analyzing current procedures, work issues, and current events.  Maintains policy and procedure manuals and documents process. Plans and coordinates special activities and projects, which includes representing the department or college at various meetings.
  • Maintains effective internal and external communication regarding process innovation and project management efforts. Provides timely information to executives and senior management throughout the system and the State. Provides consultative, coaching, or mentoring services to leadership, department staff, and outside entities as appropriate. 
  • Serves as liaison to coordinate inter-and intra-departmental administrative functions.

 

Job Requirements

 

Required Education:  Bachelor’s degree in  Accounting, Business Administration or related field. 

  • 36 months experience in financial/accounting position to include analysis, auditing and budgeting.

Equivalence/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree for a total of 84 months of related experience

 

Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Zoom, and other frequently used document sharing applications such as Dropbox
  • Detail oriented for accuracy of data and information
  • Highly organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines
  • Able to communicate well and build rapport quickly with students, faculty, and staff
  • Able to produce reports and complete work within deadlines
  • Strong initiative to solve problems
  • Ability to work independently and good organizational skills
  • Customer service
  • Ability to work both independently and with interdepartmental teams on various initiatives
  • Must have proficient professional writing skills for drafting correspondence, summaries, and other required reports.

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to engage in repetitive motions and communicate effectively.  Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods; ability to communicate, including expressing oneself or exchanging information with others; ability to use computer daily. Able to sit for prolonged periods, in a standard office environment.

Department Preferences:

  • Previous OU experience, particularly in accounting or financial related services.
  • Previous experience managing multiple projects
