Who are we looking for?

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Senior Finance Officer to join Finance Business Solutions, Chancellery Division.

The position ensures the delivery of an effective, professional and efficient payables focussed service and ensures the coordination of workload and management of day to day payables and payment activities ensuring support and assistance to the Accounts Payable Officers for the delivery of payables activities to both suppliers and staff across the university.

About the Department

Within the Chancellery, Finance Business Solutions is responsible for a range of business functions to facilitate the ongoing financial and planning viability of the university in realising QUT’s strategic aims and objectives, whilst maintaining a customer centric approach when engaging with the university community, industry and government.

About the Chancellery Division

Chancellery Division is responsible for strategy, including Indigenous strategy, government relations and policy, assurance and risk, international, marketing and communications, and business development. The Chancellery Division is led by the Vice-Chancellor and President.

What you need to succeed

Your expertise and initiative, combined with your ability to work as an excellent team player will be vital to your success in this role.

You will demonstrate:

1. Completion of a degree in a related discipline with relevant work experience in financial administration or an equivalent combination of relevant experience, education and/or training.
2. Demonstrated high level of business acumen in a complex business financial environment with extensive experience in the coordination of accounts payable, reconciliations and complex database functionality.
3. High level leadership and demonstrated ability to supervise a small team that delivers a high standard of business outcomes in a busy and complex environment.
4. High-level written and verbal communication skills with the ability to quickly establish rapport and manage collaborative working relationships, engage with a diverse client group and work effectively in a high performing team.
5. Well-developed analytical and problem solving skills with demonstrated ability to gather and integrate information from a number of sources to enable accurate and strategic decision making.
6. Demonstrated understanding of financial knowledge to apply and provide accurate and concise advice on rules, regulations and processes in accounts payable and how they interact with the general ledger, accrual accounting, GST and fringe benefits tax.
7. Demonstrated ability to contribute to a culture that is committed to the continuous improvement and innovation of processes and services.
