Senior Events Manager

Position description

The O’Neill Institute for National and Global Health Law at Georgetown University Law Center is seeking a senior events manager to plan, execute, and evaluate in-person and virtual events that are in service of the Institute’s mission and vision. The senior manager will also serve as an advisor to the director of strategic communications and substantive directors across the Institute on event strategy.

The senior events manager will have a hybrid work model that supports a blend of in-office (work out of the O’Neill Institute’s offices on the Georgetown Law campus in Washington, D.C.) and telework. The senior events manager will receive a competitive salary, outstanding benefits, and terrific colleagues. This position reports to the director of strategic communications and will work closely with the senior director of finance and external affairs and the chief of staff to develop event budgets, reporting, and analysis.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead on designing, executing, and evaluating in-person and virtual events
  • Collaborate with teams to identify event objectives, themes, and target audiences
  • Develop event timelines, project plans, and logistical details to ensure smooth execution
  • Manage event budgets, including expense tracking
  • Manage relationships with event vendors and partners across Georgetown campuses and beyond
  • Provide strategic event guidance to Institute leadership
  • Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, catering, and AV
  • Assist with event marketing and promotion
  • Provide on-site event support and troubleshooting
  • Mentor and support the Institute’s events associate

 

Qualifications

  • Six to nine years of experience in managing and executing events
  • Diplomatic and friendly personality
  • Collaborative spirit with solid relationship-building skills across all levels of an organization
  • Detailed-oriented with superior organizational skills
  • Creative problem solver who has the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment Exceptional at handling multiple tasks with competing priorities and changing circumstances
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Strong communications skills, both oral and written
  • Experience creating content for social media and newsletters
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite

Preferred

  • Proficiency in Spanish
  • Experience with Airtable and Slack
  • Experience with WordPress
