Job Title: Senior Compliance Officer
About Us: Our client a distinguished Schedule 2 bank in Canada, dedicated to delivering superior financial services while upholding the highest standards of regulatory compliance. We are currently seeking a highly qualified and experienced Senior Compliance Officer to join our team and ensure our operations are in full compliance with all pertinent laws and regulations.
Position Overview: The Senior Compliance Officer will be instrumental in overseeing and managing the bank’s compliance programs, with a particular emphasis on sanctions and regulatory compliance. This role necessitates a profound understanding of Canadian and international regulatory frameworks, coupled with a robust legal background .
Key Responsibilities:

Policy Development and Implementation: Formulate, implement, and maintain comprehensive compliance policies and procedures to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

Compliance Monitoring: Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the bank’s compliance programs, identifying and addressing areas for improvement.

Audits and Risk Assessments: Conduct regular compliance audits and risk assessments to ensure ongoing adherence to regulatory standards.

Advisory Role: Provide expert advice and guidance on sanctions and regulatory matters to management and other stakeholders.

Regulatory Liaison: Act as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring timely and accurate reporting and communication.

Regulatory Updates: Stay abreast of changes in laws and regulations affecting the banking industry and ensure the bank’s compliance programs are updated accordingly.

Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to educate staff on compliance-related topics and best practices.

Issue Resolution: Investigate and resolve compliance issues and breaches, implementing corrective actions as necessary.
Qualifications:

A law degree (LL.B or J.D.) from an accredited institution.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in compliance, with a focus on sanctions and regulatory work.

Extensive knowledge of Canadian and international banking regulations.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Professional certifications (e.g., CAMS, CRCM) are considered an asset.
