Type of Appointment: Special Short-Term, three (3) months with possibility of extension

Context:

​​​​Under the overall supervision of the Senior Operation Coordinator CCCM, and direct supervision of the Women Engagement Officer, the Senior Community Engagement Assistant will support to implement of the community engagement activities pertaining to the project.

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Organize and facilitate community meetings, focus group discussions, and other participatory activities to gather feedback and ensure community involvement in the project implementation.
  • Support to deliver community engagement activities using creative, music, sports and play, etc. means for the communities ensuring a participatory approach, relevance, contextualization, and cultural sensitivity of content.
  • Support the CCCM team with the overall community mobilization, community engagement, and outreach sensitization/awareness raising sessions.
  • Support to ensure effective feedback mechanisms are in place and that feedback from beneficiaries is followed by specific actions and incorporated into meaningful and inclusive community engagement activities.
  • Assist in developing, establishing, and maintaining community participation and engagement mechanisms, tools, and templates to ensure transparency and effective communication within the teams and communities in the sites.
  • Provide regular updates to the line Manager on community engagement activities and outcomes.
  • Assist in establishing, strengthening, and ensuring that the community has access to safe and responsive referral mechanisms to handle feedback and complaints around service provision.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of community-based projects, ensuring they align with IOM’s objectives and community needs.
  • Coordinate with relevant IOM departments and external partners to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of project activities.
  • Prepare regular progress reports, highlighting achievements, challenges, and lessons learned.
  • Perform other related duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, Community Development, or a related field from an accredited academic institution, with two years of relevant professional experience; or
  • Completed high school degree from an accredited academic institution, with four (4) years of relevant professional experience.
  • Professional relevant experience in Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM), Community Engagement, and Information Management is an advantage.

Experience

  • Demonstrated experience in engaging with local communities and facilitating participatory processes.
  • Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is an advantage.
  • Strong understanding of the cultural and socio-political context of the Philippines.

Skills

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Languages

  • For all applicants, fluency in English and Filipino, is required (oral and written).
  • Working knowledge of Dari and/or Pashto is an advantage.
