Senior Collegiate ECE Faculty

The Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Virginia Tech seeks applications for a full-time, academic year, non-tenure-track Collegiate Faculty whose primary teaching responsibilities will involve mentoring students in the undergraduate major design experience. Over the last ten years, the ECE department has grown to be the fifth largest ECE department in the country. It also has achieved top academic rankings (#15 in EE and #25 in CPE in the rankings of undergraduate level programs in USNWR). The advertised position will be based in the Blacksburg area.

This Collegiate Faculty position will be a senior-level search at the associate or full professor level with a 5 or 7-year renewable contract, respectively. Collegiate Faculty have the following responsibilities: mentor graduate students, teach courses, support graduate research, and contribute to the overall development and assessment of academic programs (https://faculty.vt.edu/faculty-handbook/chapter05.html). Collegiate Faculty are expected to participate in department, college, and university service, and committee work, and other duties as assigned. Collegiate professor faculty members may conduct research on the scholarship of teaching and learning related to their field and/or on disciplinary topics in their field and present their findings in professional venues, but there are no expectations for an extensive research program as is typical of tenure-track faculty appointments. Applicants with expertise in the area of Cyber-Physical Systems including the IoT, vehicular applications, control systems, human-in-loop, multi-agents and drone applications are of particular interest, but all technical areas will be considered. Individuals with relevant industry experience are encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will be a member of a group of faculty that is primarily responsible for teaching and advising students enrolled in the undergraduate program, although mentoring graduate students to completion is also possible. Interaction with industry, national laboratories, and/or government agencies is also required.
